Back here

I am going to begin writing here again as time permits. Driving under heavy clouds and through falling rain I think I'm sitting at another turning point in my life. I've spent all of June at the art academy but things aren't going as I had imagined. I think I am going to turn the page..

St. Lawrence of Rome on a Fork.

Not in the mood for chatting much but I thought I'd share the finished spoons with all of you. Anyone have a kitchen wall in need? These are for sale.

St. Martha of Bethany on a Kitchen Spoon.

St. Martha of Bethany on a Kitchen Spoon. I have chosen to paint her in the gothic, as the style continues to haunt me from my European trips past. I painted her looking to our right. Here we can place ourselves. Imagine her human emotion as she holds the bread, toiling away and catches a glimpse of Mary sitting with Jesus. Blown by evil, accepted by man, the dark clouds roll over her and for a second jealousy, love misunderstood and pride rain down. How often we find ourselves here. How often we compare and try to present our 'Caravaggio'. How often we forget our human frailty. Set your eyes beyond their lids and forever be, glory to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Grandmother and Delphiniums

That was 'yesterday'. In the past 2 weeks I've quit school 3 times. Easier than cigarettes I guess!! I'm sick of my battle with school... I'm going to re-focus and work on some personal pieces for the near future. I'm sick of watching the clock tick.

Today I picked up 2 canvas' that I had sketched out for flowers months ago and finally released some creative energy. Enjoy these. The portrait is of my Grandmother and the Delphiniums are just that! My fondest memories are of road trips to Montreal to visit my aunt June and my Grandmother there. As for the flowers... they are my mothers favorite.

School.

I've been struggling with going to class since day 2 back in 2008. I know I'll struggle with classes until the day I graduate. I haven't posted much lately because I've been in a deep rut since autumn 2010. Also since Muzart's last show I've tried to put my focus on school only, in terms of art. I've exploded some creativity into watercolours and done dozens since then, but for the next few years my focus is going to be these classes. I'm on my third drawing there and looking forward to finishing it! Enjoy.

Thank you cards.

I had some thank you cards to write and conveniently a bouquet of beautiful flowers. Thanks Anne! Enjoy.

Spoons.

A new year, new projects! My sister has these kitchen spoons but the paint was peeling off. She was going to through them out but I decided to rescue them and paint a St. Lawrence and a St. Marta on them. After all... they are the patron saints of cooks! Stay tuned.
